A Note from the Editor
Dear Beezys and Beezy Lovers,
To write that I have always used this website to encourage others in purity, would be an absolute lie. In October 2011, not even a year ago, I was photographing and writing my first article for wcbeez.com, entitled “Friends with Benefits”. The writing was casual and edgy, teaching the techniques and practice of massage. While the photography I shot and used for the article included a female model relaxing in her underwear as a male model in boxers gave her a romantic and sensual massage in a candle lit room. At the time, I believed and hoped my website would receive attention from a wide array of audiences. The magazine’s facebook likes started to rise and I was happy. But to my surprise, after a month or so, the likes went down. Some fans visited the page and “un-liked” it, I assume, to no longer see my updates in their feed. But what troubled me most was these “x-fans” are people I actually know, people I thought to be friends of mine. With an “i love haters” attitude, I kept up the care free feel and continued to share edgy, promiscuous content.
After a few months, my values, again, started to shift. After finding a three year old journal filled with my goals of running an online magazine, I was reminded of my initial hope to share positive, encouraging and uplifting articles. I took a long look at my website and realized that West Coast Bee.Z Magazine was stuck in between promoting promiscuity and purity, mostly because I- myself could not decide which one I truly wanted to follow. I was afraid to lose my online following and I was terribly scared of leaving behind a lifestyle I had embraced for so long.
In June, after months of self-reflection, tears and prayer, I made the decision to follow Christ. It sounds silly, because one might say I had it good, I had it easy, I should have been thankful and happy. But I wasn’t happy, so I asked God why and He replied- quite clearly, “Return to me.” And so- I did. Since then, God has blessed me repeatedly and been a better provider than anyone I relied on in the passed. It certainly has not been easy, but I believe, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and if God is for me, who can be against me? (Phil. 4:13 & Romans 8:31)
August is dedicated to seeking purity. Some of you have no idea how to go about such a thing. In today’s society I don’t blame you. Neither does Jesus. Realize however, there are people young and old, today and two thousand years ago, who try, day in and day out, to not give in to shallow philosophies, who are fighting against the “norm” and taking action to build a legacy of purity, patience and positivity. I am, you can too!
Listen, learn and amplify the voices of such warriors.
Much Love from the West Coast,
