A Note from the Editor

Dear bee.Z’s and bee.Z lovers,

Sometimes I think about how it feels to be free. From my little room in the middle of Orange County, I dedicate three days a week to making shit happen in West Coast Bee.Z Magazine. My boyfriend Joe, completely and perfectly opposite of me, works his ass off all week, and asks barely anything of me, besides love of course. Don’t assume me as a “taker”… I give the best love. And creativity is sexy- and contagious.

I’m also a bit ritualistic. I wake up everyday before 10am. I prepare a mini pot of Starbucks coffee and stretch on the carpet to Lana Del Rey radio on Pandora. While inhaling deep breathes, I accept all the tasks that need to be done for the day. I tell myself I will do my best and I will be responsible. Then I call my mama in San Diego. We update each other on the latest twists and turns of our loopy lives. By the end of the conversation, my coffee is done and I’m ready to start writing.

This month I brought back West Coast Date Night: Little Italy Edition. I am Sicilian and completely obsessed with Italian food, so I’m hoping to inspire you to experience a tradition Italian meal. I almost always eat at Filipis when I’m in Little Italy in San Diego. The really icky cheese smell in the front of the restaurant is a red flag of it’s authenticity. Also, you need to see the movie Moonstruck with Nicolas Cage and Cher. It’s a million times better than ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’. Our featured Beezy with Brains is the lovely Maria Baker. Her interview, will be published the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Maria is celebrating her first mother’s day with her daughter Ayvah, and is sharing her experience over the passed year. If you like happy endings, you should definitely read this!Our Curious Kitty is another fabulous mama, Neshonda Roby, a model living in Northern Cali. She will tackle the relationship question, “How do I explain to my man that I’m mad about something he did, if he’s totally clueless?” Hopefully, Neshonda can help enlighten some of us on how to communicate to the air headed man.
